Found this curious-looking fungus in Madera Canyon in the Coronado National Forest

A stalked puffball like perhas like this one: http://americanmushrooms.com/taxa/Calvatia_cyathiformis_02_Lewis_Tester.htm Not sure if this species grows in arid areas.
