Field Notes

Description:

Mostly spherical, brown sacs remaining after last high tide, 15mm dia. some collapsing, small tubercules evenly over surface,

Habitat:

Bay shoreline at high tide mark especially near mangroves.

Notes:

Note jumping spider.
A brown algae (Fucales) Also known as sea grapes, and bubbleweed.
It runs out that the small tubercules all over the spheres are sex organs.

Exactly right LivanEscudero. Thanks for that. I spent hours and got nowhere. I'm amazed that it's only in AU and NZ but it's sure common around here.

Thanks Gerardo yeah we have big kelps here. So maybe it's float bladders from kelp.

Nice spot Argybee I have seen some seaweed similar in the coast of California is calling Kelp but not sure if there is a similar seaweed in Australia.
