Field Notes

Description:

An attractive leaf beetle feeding (unusually) on tea tree rather than eucalyptus. This species is therefore divergent and doesn't easily fit into the Paropsis genus, not into the Paropsisterna. However, the margins of the pronotum, being emarginate, define it as Paropsis.

Habitat:

A local nature reserve.
Feeding on Kunzea

Notes:

In Latin;
Paropsis = dish
picti = painting, or picture
pennis = wings

Thanks LR Most of my 'staged' shots result in the model flying away :)
Very interesting Martin. That's a nice shot showing the difference between the Paropsisterna variety and this one. Thanks. Nice last shot, too.
