Field Notes

Description:

This insect resembles a large green grasshopper, with exceptionally long antennae. About 4 cm in length. This may be Scudderia pistillata, but I can't tell from this photo and my notes aren't good enough to ID it to the species.

Habitat:

Grasslands, shrublands, and edges of forest. I found this one in an upland forest edge near a wetland.

Notes:

This katydid was cleaning its antennae when I found it.
