Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Broadband Cuttlefish, Broad Stripe Cuttlefish and Reef Cuttlefish. This is the second largest cuttlefish, after the Australian Giant Cuttlefish (S. apama).

They feed on small fish and crustaceans, and grow to a length of about 50cm. Their color changes to match surroundings.

Habitat:

Found on most coral reef habitats, at depths of 2 to 30m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this during a night dive, at a depth of about 45 feet. It was pretty docile, and didn't run away when we approached it. It measured about 30cm long.
