Description:

Lots of these purple beautys on the trail the other day. Thanks for the ID.

Habitat:

Lake Superior Aug 26th 2012.

I don't think these are Amethyst Deceivers. The first pic shows the stems are bulbous towards the base and in the second two pics, if you look closely, you can see the rust colour at the top of the stem (Amethyst Deceivers have white spores). I would guess a Webcap, like Cortinarius violaceus, if you look very closely at the second pic, I think there may even be some veil (web) remnants visible?
So vibrant! These must have been fresh. Lots on the trail.
