Description:

From the Family Phallaceae, this mushroom looks like it has risen from the underworld. The fleshy, pink cap stretches out with demonic-like tentacles. In the center it oozes a dark, sticky liquid called a "Gleba", containing a sticky mass of spores that stinks like the bowels from hell. No wonder the name of this 'shroom translates to "Disgusting red juice."

Habitat:

I found this shroom in the Uyuca Biological Reserve; a coniferous deciduous forest

Excellent photo and spotting, José Armando! I see that the references spell the scientific name differently (Aseröe, not Aseroë). Can you check on that and correct it please, so that other students of fungi at Uyuca Biological Reserve don't get confused? Many thanks! (I look forward to seeing more of your spottings in this and other missions for the reserve!!!)
