Fantastic friends. Thank you Agnes & Sinobug. Positive ID here! awesome. Happy. This bug actually looked alien to me till now :)
@AgnesAdiqueTalavera A very interesting and relevant reference. It certainly explains the differences between acewings.ajay's spotting and my suggestion as being locational. Interestingly then, I wonder why/if nymphal appearance is not used to distinguish the species considering they are visible differences as opposed to microscopic in the adults. But the good news, acewings.ajay, is that you have an ID - Erthesina acuminata.
In this link, sp from Oriental region was identified as Erthesina fullo (Thunberg), while sp from the Indian subcontinent as Erthesina acuminata Dallas. The late instar image in this link is a match to your spotting - http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/rider/Pentatomoidea/Genus_Halyini/Erthesina.htm. Hope this helps.
@Sinobug , the patterns & looks of the insect match to your suggestion except the colors. Related. Lets do some more hunting for the ID. Thanks.
It is a true bug/shield bug nymph, not a beetle. Very similar to a Yellow Marmorated Stink Bug nymph, Erthesina fullo, except for the colors so suspect it is related...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/itchydogimages/7729881176/
I found one of these insects hear in Japan once. But I didn't have a vary good camra at the time, and the light was bad.
Nice spotting! Very interesting pattern on the back.
