Field Notes

Description:

Small, black and shiny, beetle-like. Small "window" at back with wings exposed (like many other True Bugs).

Habitat:

Suburban backyard garden.

Notes:

Found living under stones in the garden and some hiding under the grill cover that had been left on the ground. I initially thought they were beetles.
