Description:

Many of the Indian butterflies have been named and taxonomicaly classified during the British rule. Hence there is a huge lot of butterflies having names from the different army positions, royal designations which are both Indian as well as British. So we have butterflies like Commanders, Constables, Dukes, Counts to Nawabs & Rajas ! This jewel has probably got its name as it is quite decorated like a army commander !

With a wing span of 60-75mm, this jewel is well

Habitat:

Distributed through the peninsular, South,North & the North Eastern parts of India and is also seen in urban areas.
