Description:

With the under side of the wings that looks like studded with precious stones, I am not sure why they chose to name such a beautiful Jewel as "Jay". I remember in a earlier instance I was just so mesmerized with its beauty that I kept the camera aside and decided just to admire the creation.

With a wing span of around 70-80mm, the Jay is a swift flier and can be seen fluttering around flowers or mud puddling around damp areas.

Habitat:

Commonly distributed in India around the Western Ghats up to South Of India and also to the Eastern and North Eastern parts of India.
