Description:

A darkling beetle, specifically a long-jointed bark beetle (Tenebrionidae: Lagriinae) See: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_darklings/Lagriinae.htm

Habitat:

Spotted just after rain on vegetation including taro (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) and banana, in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

Yes right after the rain, if it's been a few days, is a good time for bugs :-)
Good find Scott! I always find more spottings after the rains, too bad it rarely rains here.
