Field Notes

Description:

This herbaceous plant with scented leaves and daisy like flowers was about a foot tall. The bright yellow disc florets were tubular while the ray florets had white squarish petals.

Habitat:

Spotted growing in cheerful little blotches on an otherwise desolate paddock - suburban garden block.

Notes:

This plant is native to Eurasia but is now grown in many countries. It is used for medicinal purposes in traditional herbal medicines and is known to repel some insects. It's synonym Pyrethrum parthenium migh lead to some confusion -it is not the same as pyrethrum daisy which has the compounds for an organic insecticide. <br> Family: Asteraceae

Coming upon this bright little plant, all on it's own, really cheered me up. Glad you like it Tukup.
"cheerful little bunches." I like that Leuba. Thanks for sharing.
So appealing. I always try to mow around them when they appear.
