Awesome! I'm glad everyone could help with this one! Nice spot, Maria!
Thank you guys for your help. I have updated the ID based on the link Ashish provided.
I find they fly in dense forest area. Not long flights... but they know how to get rid off predators... :)
Maria you must update ID.... most of experts agree on http://www.biolib.cz/en/image/id32032/
i also think is Pyrrhocoris apterus becouse of the black head and the round black spot in the back
Pyrrhocoris apterus in my opinion. But to be sure you need a clear dorsal shot. There are in Europe some nasty similar ones. But I am pretty sure (as pretty as I dare to write...) that it is the very common firebug. Males are sometimes able to fly.
Thank you Reza for your help. I was trying to find a match, but couldn't. I found something similar, but the head was red, which is not the match. This bug looks exactly like the "traditional" firebug, but it flew. It is really tricky to ID this one.
Maria this might be a Long winged firebug (macropterous) specimen.
@Ashish, it looks exactly like a firebug, but it flew, landed on the hand and flew away. and if firebugs don't fly, then I'll keep looking for a match. @Reza: thanks! I will check if I find a match, although I looked in the past and didn't figure out the exact spieces.
Must be Firebug... Pyrrhocoris apterus
It is from the Red Bug Family Pyrrhocoridae....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrhocoridae
Unfortunately I don't. This is a close up of the only photo I have. It landed on my brother's hand (fingers) and I was holding a camera and did a quick shot. Then it flew away very quickly, no opportunity for other shots.
Maria if it flew then it is not a Firebug but one of its relatives....Firebugs cannot fly .....do you have another picture of this spotting ?
@Reza: Can a firebug fly? I had firebug spotting on PN already, if this is also a firebug then I would join the two spottings together. I was not sure what this is, because it is a flying insect and I never saw firebugs fly.
