Field Notes

Description:

Looks similar to Iberian Water Frog but has no yellow line on back from nose to tail. <br>
Of course frogs have tails when they are young tadpoles but they drop them at the final stage of changing to a frog and just leave a stump.

Habitat:

Canal between industrial estate and agricultural fields.

Malcolm, the Collins Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of Europe says that the Iberian Water Frog "often has a light stripe on the back", which indicates that the stripe is not always there.
