Amazing! Thanks a lot, Martin. I'll try to find more info here. I thought of tortoise beetles because the overall shape of this one looks very much like that of TB larvae, minus the "spikes": http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8213489
They come from Australia and here's an Asian one. I don't know if they are supposed to come from Brazil but you probably have everything. They are female http://www.flickr.com/photos/itchydogimages/7587317494/
When they have no wings you easily think of a nymph or larva. This one has grown up already GIANT SCALE INSECT http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2010/03/16/giant-scale-insect-from-australia/
