Description:
A perennial plant, belonging to Ranunculaceae family. The plants observed on Jura mountain were some 30 cm tall, growing in groups forming bunches, with leaves deeply divided into 3 to 5 dented lobes. The flowers forms a bright yellow globe-like flower, some 3 to 3,5 cm in diameter. In fact, the globe is formed by colorful petaloid sepals, which hide inconspicuous true petals and a large number of stamens inside the globe.
Habitat:
It is been said that plant grows in damp ground in shady areas, woodland and scrub, but these were observed in big numbers all around the piste climbing one of the peaks of Jura mountains, in plain sunlight.

Notes:
The globeflower rhizome is toxic, and the plant itself is slightly poisonous as it contains an alcaloid, proto-anemonine. It is been said that the plant has laxative properties when used fresh; as well as rubefacient properties (diluting the capillaries and increasing the blood circulation).
