Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful golden/green and orange sheen on most parts of this Australian beetle, red/orange shiny edges to all appendages, large jaws on male and female but male's larger, rests amongst leaves and plants, and lives and breeds in rotting wood and bark. Takes an aggressive stance if cornered.

Habitat:

Found in NSW, Victoria and Queensland Australia in woodland, forested regions.

Notes:

This one had lost a few limbs.
