Field Notes

Description:

When freshly emerged the green colour of the forewing, combined with the wing markings, help to distinguish this moth from most others. This green colour fades to yellowish, whitish or even pinkish white with age

Habitat:

The moth sitting on the leaf of a Yellow Archangel at the forest edge of a mixed forest (mainly oak and beech) on the edge of the nature reserve Naafbachtal.

Heaths, mosses and woodland

Notes:

Main foodplant is bedstraw (Galium) and Hawthorn.
The single generation flies from May to July.
They are mainly nocturnal,during the day they rest on tree trunks or vegetation. The pupate in a cocoon in the soil.
