Typical hover fly, difficult to photograph, but patience rewards.

Habitat:

A regular visitor in my garden.

@Atul: The darker spot is called the false iris and is the light reflecting on the compound eyes. It is especially visible in Mantids. Google mantid images then you will see what I mean. It almost looks like a pupil, but its not.
wow,the eyes are striped instead of spotted !
