Description:

This fly is just over 3/8" long. During they day they fly and hover in one place for long periods. They also appear much greener over the eyes and entire body. They move so quickly during the day that it is nearly impossible to get a good shot.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 5 months into the 6 month rainy season.

Yes, this is a Syrphidae of the genus Ornidia (but I don't know if this is obesa or an other species) !
This is a type of syrphid fly, family Syrphidae.
