Field Notes

Description:

This attractive hairstreak butterfly had a wing span of 40 mm. All four wings reflect blue in the sun, a feature sometimes difficult to see.

Habitat:

Spotted on a black wattle tree (Acacia mearnsii) near wetlands at a retarding basin.

Notes:

I've not been lucky so far to see the upper side of the wings of these butterflies - here was a chance and hence the spotting. <br>
