Jucá

The ironwood tree is an evergreen to semi-deciduous, native to the Atlantic Forest, occurring from southeast to northeast Brazil, in the Atlantic slope rain forests (tropical rain forest). The crown is rounded and broad, with about 6 to 12 meters in diameter. The size is impressive, reaching 20-30 feet tall. The trunk provides 50 to 80 cm in diameter. It is clear, marbled, smooth and exfoliating, which gives in interesting decorative effect. The leaves are composed bipinnate with leaflets elliptical dark green color. Flowering occurs in summer and autumn. The flowers are yellow, small, and ornamental secondary importance. The fruits are hard pods that ripen in winter. Part of the fruit falls, while a good portion still remains in the plant, forming a seed bank air.
