Field Notes

Description:

A large moth with many tones of brown and as well as an orange highlight, complete with spots to make it blend in.

Habitat:

Spotted on the balcony of a hostel facing the Caribbean Sea on the southern end of Costa Rica. Very warm, wet night.

Thanks Juan, for updating the info. Whatever problem was there yesterday is gone, so I was able to get in and remove this spotting from the Moth-specific missions as well.
Thanks to bayucca for the help. I would love to update the info on this spotting, but right now no matter how many times I reload the page I am not allowed to check the copyright holder box, so the website will not let me save my changes.
I wondered, but when it landed at first it kept it's wings open and flat. When I got closer to get a photograph it got nervous and took wing before landing where it is in the photos, where it kept it's wings up and together.
Nymphalidae, Morphinae, Brassolini, Opsiphanes invirae cuspidatus. It is butterfly not a moth.
