Field Notes

Description:

large, barrel type cactus, typical, simple pink flower

Habitat:

desert

Notes:

There were a lot of these cacti in the Tatacoa desert. There were a lot of cacti actually but only about 4 unique species that I could see. Without my ID books at hand, I´m not of the the species of this one. I should be able to ID it once I get home. Maybe Echinocactus? This is the same type I have with my profile photo.

Thanks for the info. I wish I would have known that before. I did see a lot of the fruits and would have loved to be eating them.
The fruit that this cacti produces is consumable, and pretty delicious by the way, it looks like a little pink chili.
