Mecaphesa celer
30.233, -97.8742
Field Notes
Description:
Adult female 5.5mm. This is one of the known color forms of this spider. It is extremely similar to a common color form of Mecaphesa dubia. One difference that I have found is that Mecaphesa celer that have red on them also have two pairs of dark spots on the anterior dorsal abdomen, with the anterior-most pair wider than the poster pair. If it has red and looks like this but does not have these spots, it's more likely to be Mecaphesa dubia. I believe Mecaphesa celer females are more commonly all yellow.
Habitat:
Found on a Slender-Stem Bitterweed flower.
