Habitat:

growing in a flower garden, full sun light, damp to dry conditions, tendency to spread but not sure if by seed or root

Thank you, venusflytrap2000! LuckyLogan-American Goldfinch in particular but I believe I also saw Purple Finch and House Finch on them as well. :-)
I have heard that birds use them as a food source. Never seen it happen before though.
LuckyLogan-Thank you sooo much!!! :-) Yes. I've taken photos of Swallowtails on them as well as Monarchs and another unknown butterfly over the years. Finches seem to love their seeds as well.
Pretty common flower in our part of the country. Butterflies LOVE them.
