Field Notes

Description:

Some flower buds on a sapling. Most trees grow in spurts during spring and buds are a sign that this is happening. The buds protect the exposed tips of the trees when they are growing.

Habitat:

Trees are naturally occurring almost everywhere. In our area there is a mixed temperate deciduous forest, characterized by the annual shedding of leaves.
