Field Notes

Description:

This 5 mm long weevil was extremely active making it very difficult to get close-up shots. Elytra appeared slightly gnarly with blotchy grey patterns. A cream coloured speck was seen on the midline of the posterior margin of the thorax. Eyes were rounded. Antennae appeared straight with clubbed tips. Rostrum was of medium length.
Pic 5 shows partly folded hind wings. This little weevil was an efficient flyer.

Habitat:

Spotted on a long-leaved acacia bush.

Notes:

My thanks to Stephen Thorpe for the ID. Hoping to find some information on this weevil.

Thanks so much for the ID, Stephen. That's him/her for sure ! even down to the small pale patch on the thorax. I tried over two days to get some good shots of this little weevil. So nice to have an identification. Thanks again.
