Field Notes

Description:

I saw 3 or 4 of these on the ground, all already hatched. You can see the neat little slit in the egg where the snake came out of this one. Similar in appearance to Eastern Indigo Snake eggs.

Habitat:

In a transitional area between salt marsh and hardwood forest with lots of old oak, colicwood, wild coffee, and Sabal Palmetto. Chassahowitzka Salt Marsh Trails in the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge

Thanks Neil and Sukanya!
Wonderful spotting, Machi. Great notes too.
WoW! Really neat...literally also, the slit is like as if it has been made with a blade...great spotting, Machi.
