Pentatomidae, Asopinae, Podisus maculiventris. In my eyes not Chinavia hilaris. The markings are different. Although nymphs usually are very tricky to ID, I think yours is Podisus maculiventris. http://bugguide.net/node/view/395854/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/4253 http://bugguide.net/node/view/418305/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/454572/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/453617/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/345560/bgimage Chinavia hilaris for comparison: http://bugguide.net/node/view/885566/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/885517/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/849208/bgimage
This is a Heminopteran. Most likely the second the last instar (sub adult) of the green stink bug. The nymphs are very varient and bright on color. -Mart
What a coincidence. I saw this bug for the first time today in my front yard on a sunflower plant. I took some pictures but haven't downloaded them yet. I'd be curious to know what it is too. I hope someone knows!
