Squawroot

Also know as 'bear corn', is a perennial, non-photosynthesizing (or "achlorophyllous") parasitic plant, from the broomrape family, Orobanchaceae. When blooming, resembles a pine cone or cob of corn growing from the roots of mostly oak and beech trees.
