Field Notes

Description:

Slightly larger than a robin, crested head, blue torso but black head. Very similar to its relative the blue jay.

Habitat:

Coniferous western forests, sea level to timberline.

Notes:

Raucous call. Behaves both cautiously and boldly. Clever little back country breakfast thief.
