Field Notes

Description:

3cm long, brown along the back and red down the sides with thin broken black lines running it's length. It bites and sucks the blood of large mammals. They are heat-seeking and plentiful and unless protective clothing is worn, a close encounter is likely.

Habitat:

Found in Borneo, Indochina and Taiwan, in moist forests.

I was covered from head to toe Neil, so was lucky to avoid them. They were everywhere though and many in my group were bitten. Not a nice experience.
