I returned to this location Nov 29, a week after this photo was taken. The egg mass looks the same. I had a good look around, but did not find any adult treehopper nearby.
So egg masses for different species look different - that is interesting to know. I hope I may be able to get back to this spot tomorrow or the next day. I will check on the eggs and look for an adult.

Thanks Sergio. I did not see a treehopper (there were a good many blue, metallic leaf beetles on the same plant). I hope I'll get a chance to go have another look ...
Anne Marie, these are treehopper eggs. You'll probably find an adult nearby.
