Sphenophorus sp. confirmed!
this is a great photo!
Hey Peter! I really enjoyed your blog feature. :) This is a billbug, Sphenophorus sp. It is a genus which consists of many similar species, except for the somewhat distinguishable S. australis, which can be seen here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/13905047 Notice how there are no defined black markings in your spotting, which suggests another species of the same genus. I'm thinking it could possibly be one of these: http://bugguide.net/node/view/278605 Or http://bugguide.net/node/view/278605
