Field Notes

Description:

a tan and black moth of some kind, perhaps an inch to an inch and a half in length and width (lower wingtip to lower wingtip)

Habitat:

My dad found this handsome fellow in the grass near our cabin

Notes:

I'm not sure if he was alive or not, as I never saw him move, but he was able to hold himself upright and not blow over in the wind. To get better images of him and to move him out of the danger zone (my dad was mowing the grass) I carefully moved him up to a leaf of one of our tall-growing Hollyhocks where I then took a few pictures of him.
