Field Notes

Description:

An evenly textured litter skink with white bar and brown behind the eyes. The tail is very long and a strong red brown color. This specimen was fat and possibly pregnant.

Habitat:

Found while weeding the garden

Notes:

This image shares the dark zone behind the eye and confirms my suspicion of 'weasel skink'. http://www.ausemade.com.au/fauna-flora/fauna/reptilia/squamata/scincida…

Thanks Jellis I had the wrong location. This one was spotted in Victoria. Checking the Victorian species would exclude Lygisaurus because it is out of range. I suspect Saproscincus mustelinus based on the white 'teardrop' dot behind the eye. http://www.ausemade.com.au/fauna-flora/fauna/reptilia/squamata/scincidae/saproscincus/s-mustelinus/weasel-skink-1.htm
it maybe one of the Lygisaurus subspecies but hard to match the pattern.
