Thnx Cindy. The range of A.attenuatus makes sense. It is found in Cal.What is the common name though. It is very likely a webworm but what kind?
I was looking at that genus but not A vulgivagellus. I'm thinking more Agriphila attenuatus. Look at this one: http://bugguide.net/node/view/853664/bgimage
If it is what I think it is ,Vagabond Sod Webworm, then there is only one record of a similar kind for California . For the month of Aug/
thnx Cindy. Was just checking on Bug guide .
This looks like a type of Crambine Snout Moth but there are so many that are similar.
I was hoping it is Hednota! Then it would be a first for Bug guide!
Leuba!! Please do not apologize. I always appreciate your feedback. Will alter notes and do further research. Thanks again and have a great day!
Hema, I think I've mislead you, sorry- it looks like Hednota (from Oz but I am not sure if you have the same genus in the US). You might have a similar looking crambid moth with a different generic name like this one. http://www.cirrusimage.com/moth_snout_Crambus.htm Please check the above for occurrence in your area. Also, you might need to alter your notes. Thanks.
Leuba,is Hednota sp found mainly in Australia? i wonder if have these out here,
Looks like Hednota species - A Crambid moth ( Family: Crambidae)
