Field Notes

Description:

Large, yellow and black, female, 45-50 mm, distinctive white appendage that also gives its name. Has black pterostigmas.

Habitat:

On vegetation, high banks of large, slow-flowing lowland river.

Notes:

Very common species in Romania, males can be seen sitting on open ground near the water, launching low fast flights over the water.
