Moth week started in 2012 as a local mothing event through Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Central New Jersey. Since its inception, National Moth Week has captivated audiences far and wide. From its inaugural year with registered mothing events spanning 49 states and 31 countries, it has since expanded its reach. Now, annually registered events occur in all 50 states and extend to over 90 countries across every continent except Antarctica, including numerous island nations.

SciStarter helps bring together millions of curious and concerned people in the world; the thousands of opportunities to engage in real-world research questions in collaboration with researchers, communities, organizations, and companies; and the resources, products, and services that enable people to pursue and enjoy these activities while learning and accelerating important research. Together, we can help answer questions that cannot be answered alone. When we’re all involved, the science is better.
