Nature Photography Day

Nature Photography Day is celebrated annually on June 15 to encourage people to appreciate, enjoy, and document the beauty of the natural world through photography. The observance highlights the role of photography in fostering a deeper connection with nature and raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

The day was established in 2006 by the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible nature photography and environmental stewardship. NANPA created Nature Photography Day to inspire photographers of all skill levels to explore natural landscapes, wildlife, plants, and ecosystems while practicing ethical photography that respects wildlife and habitats.

Since its inception, Nature Photography Day has grown in popularity among photographers, conservationists, educators, and outdoor enthusiasts. The observance serves as a reminder that photographs can be powerful tools for storytelling, education, and conservation, helping to inspire appreciation and protection of the natural environment for future generations.
