These looks like Chafer's larvae, possibly Cetonia aurata, or rose chafer (if the spotting was in Europe - I don't know anything about chafer's range. If not chafer, it is porbably some cousin, some other scarab beetle. But not the Maybug, their mandibules are stronger.
