Field Notes
Description:
The first version is for perspective. There is a surfer on the right, and another surfer on the left who has just gotten swamped by the wave. To the left of that surfer is a large fish? It is larger than the surfer. The second version is an enlargement of the first. I added contrast to define the creature better, but it's still pretty sketchy. It seems to be large, with a dark body and white belly and large round paddle-shaped fins.
Habitat:
Ocean near Children's Pool, La Jolla, California
Notes:
I was taking snapshots of the ocean because it had been very windy and the waves were more dramatic than usual. When I downloaded my photos later I saw this in the wave. The seals and sea lions from the Childrens Pool swim out into the ocean. They may be prey for (and attract) larger fish. This might be such a fish on the left and a seal between it and the surfer?? Any ideas? Has anyone seen anything similar?
