Description:

Seen growing on a log amongst moss in Monteverde Cloud forest. Soft rubbery texture.

Notes:

possibly Black Witches Butter - Exidia glandulosa

I can say with 100% certainty this is not E. glandulosa, it forms fused globs that have conspicuous glands on the surface, not the foliose structures seen here. I am still thinking lichen, although the substrate would seem to make Peltigera highly unlikely. thanks Miles and Chesterberry. You know it was soft, like the texture of a earlobe, and rubbery. I thought the Peligeras were more firm.
Agreed a lichen, possibly a species of Peltigera.
