There must be pictures of Callipharas on the net. Actually I don't know what you are doing, I am going to Norway know. I hope you will found some good links and folks who can help you more. Good luck, Jolly!
Calliphara nobilis has white belly while calliphara excellens looks similar but with no picture of its belly. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bettaman/3428577005/ so what do I do now?
Have you already checked Calliphara excellens or Calliphara nobilis?? But careful, some of the IDs on the web are not correct.
Chrysocoris stolii has yellow or orange belly. This spotting has green belly with red & black legs. They are not the same.
From the collection of coleen.sucgang from iloilo, AshishNimkar give an ID of Asian jewel bug (chrysocoris stolli). RicardoBayshark's ID is its a Harlequin bug.
Yes, Shekainahdalaban. Its called tuba tuba. Can you help with the ID?
The larva of Nobilis is exclusively feeding on mangrove plant Excoecaria algallocha. But it is the larva! I don't know if you have some Excoecaria algallocha in your area and how many miles the range of this bug would be. I do not know what Excellens is feeding on.
This species lives on jathropa plant including the nymph. Thanks for the patience and effort.
I think it is either Calliphara excellens or Calliphara nobilis. I guess that some IDs on the web are also not safe or even wrong. Personally I can't separate them.
Nice pictures... Reminded my spotting.. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8470486
I have already uploaded more pictures. Please take a look. Thanks.
Thanks AshishNimkar. Yes, it is a female laying eggs on a jathropa tree. I will be uploading more angles to properly identify this spotting.
Jolly this is great spotting and this will be remembered to reference of Eggs of this Bug. This one look to be female laying eggs...!!
Bayucca ID is.. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/5693641
OK you won! Since I never delete my wrong IDs I must say yours is definitely the better choice. Look at the missing orange belly and the red legs, black knees. The only thing which is different are the larger black spots on the back in your shot compared to some pictures of Calliphara excellens. I would go with this one. If you would like I can delete the wrong ID.
By the way, this is the nymph which I uploaded earlier. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12026991
Ok. I'll load more angles for proper verification. Can you please look at this? :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Calliphara_exellens_(Burmeister,_1834).jpg
Hmm, yes! Hmm, what about the orange belly?? Hmm, no, maybe...
Sorry for the spelling of you name. Typographical error.
Thanks batucca. I was thinking of this ID but I was hesitant because of the difference of the color of the legs and underside plus the geographical location. Do you think they are the same?
You have to verify!! I am not 100% sure. Maybe you have dorsal shot to compare the spots. Stollii is quite common in your area. Take it as a hint!
Can anyone help with this ID? I know its a jewel bug but i'm not sure of its scientific name.
