I am sure you already found my spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/22826046 Not the same species as yours, but you see what I mean with the general appearance and the hairy bands. Very few images and little information on these reclusive wasps. Dave
Thanks Dave. Yes it was quite big, not aggressive though. The first pic is of the wasp when I removed it from in the house to outside in the evening, the next 3 images are from the following morning. It had hardly moved. Still looking at megascolia wasps ...
My guess is that this was BIG. From the rows of lateral hairs on the abdomen, you should be looking under megascolia wasps. Dave
