Description:

About 15 mm long. Help with ID appreciated!

Habitat:

Spotted in a mixed coniferous-deciduous forest, near a pond. Alt. 1400m ASL.

Ashish is right. Tabanus nemoralis. (6 segments of the abdomen, touching eyes, furred)...was a bit confused because horseflies look a bit bolder from a top view than from this sideview.

Not easy to identify without a view on the abdomen's pattern...is there any? Nice macro 2nd shot, btw :)
