Field Notes

Description:

The leaves are flat but curved, so they appear fleshy from above even though they are actually thin; pink stems; clustered flowers/flower buds under the leaves. I believe this to be Polygonum minimum, though potentially not yet documented in Kodiak. I was told this was an intertidal species of Cochlearia, but I just don't know if I think the morphology matches up.

Habitat:

Rocky stream bank

Notes:

I looked through Wildflowers and other Plant Life of the Kodiak Archipelago and still couldn't find a match. I can almost always find wildflowers I am looking for in that book so I am quite stumped.
