Field Notes

Description:

Window. About a cm in length. Various brown tones, with two white "eyes" on each side of the center of its back. Antennae are brown like the legs, graduating into orange at the tips. A quick mover, and very responsive to stimuli from the environment. (vibrations, air movement, etc) Will not crawl onto paper towel or hand, and runs in the other direction when presented with those options. Apologies for the blurry pic - it's the best my phone could capture.

Habitat:

Austin, TX is a semi-arid climate with a mixture of trees and shrubbery in the landscape. Soil tends to be alkaline due to the presence of large limestone deposits.
